Eugene Wong secures 2015 Asian Tour card via Q-School

After two grueling weeks in Thailand competing in Asian Tour Qualifying School, Eugene Wong has secured his Asian Tour card for the 2015 season.

Eugene’s quest for his card began on January 14-17 at Springfield Royal Country Club in Hua Hin, Thailand where he posted rounds of 70-72-72-71 for a T17 finish, easily finishing inside the top-31 to move on to Final Stage the following week.

It was in Final Stage Q-School that Eugene asserted himself as one of the top talents in the field of 231 tour professionals from across the globe. With rounds of 72-68-72-68, Eugene finished T12. Eugene’s comfort at Springfield was evident as he dropped six birdies in his final round to surge up the leaderboard.

Eugene will play the first three events he is eligible for on the Asian Tour schedule:

  • March 19 – March 22: SAIL Open; India
  • April 23 – April 26: CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters; Indonesia
  • May 7 – May 10: AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open; Mauritius

After those events, Eugene plans to reassess and consider starting the PGA TOUR Canada season at his hometown event, the PC Financial Open in Vancouver, British Columbia on May 28 – 31 where, in 2014, he finished T2 at Point Grey Golf & Country Club.

Whatever schedule Eugene plays in 2015, it’s sure to be an exciting year.
